Winnie Ssanyu-Sseruma HIV TEDTalk

Winnie Ssanyu-Sseruma shares her HIV story in this amazing TEDTalk.

Winnie was born in Yorkshire, grew up in Africa, went to a boarding school in Uganda and then went to University in the States. Whilst in North America for her studies she finished her degree and wanted to pursue a masters. As part of her masters she went for a medical intern-ship, the application process went through many academic tests and also some medical tests. These medical tests highlighted some to inconsistencies and it was later identified that she was living with HIV. Needless to say she did not pursue the medical internship as she was shocked, angry and worried and wanted to find out what was going on with her life.

Winnie Ssanyu-Sseruma is now 50 years old and works with HIV positive Africans by writing, researching and speaking.
