The Bloomsbury Network Beyond Diagnosis Course is a free, peer-led HIV support course for anyone living with HIV, whether you were diagnosed recently or have been living with HIV for many years.
Taking place over three consecutive Saturdays in London, the course provides a supportive and confidential space to learn more about HIV, challenge stigma and build the knowledge and confidence to live well with HIV.
Who is the Beyond Diagnosis Course for?
The course is open to anyone living with HIV, regardless of how long ago you received your diagnosis.
You may have been diagnosed recently and still be adjusting
to what that means, or you may have been living with HIV for 30 years or more.
If your diagnosis is affecting your confidence, wellbeing or the way you live
your life, Beyond Diagnosis is designed to support you.
Importantly, the course is entirely facilitated by people who are also living with HIV, providing genuine peer support from people with lived experience.
What does the course cover?
HIV treatment and understanding have changed enormously.
With effective modern treatment, people living with HIV can live long and
healthy lives.
However, HIV can still carry stigma, prejudice, fear and
misinformation. Beyond Diagnosis combines practical information with peer
support to help challenge those misconceptions and give participants a better
understanding of HIV today.
Across the three sessions, we explore:
- HIV
transmission routes
- The
science behind HIV and modern treatment
- HIV
and the law
- HIV
stigma and ways to challenge it
- Wellbeing
and practical ways to live well with HIV
There is also plenty of opportunity to talk, ask questions and learn from other people with lived experience of HIV.
A free, peer-led HIV support course
The Beyond Diagnosis Course is completely free to attend.
The Bloomsbury Network runs Beyond Diagnosis four times a
year and, over the past 20 years, has supported hundreds of people living with
HIV to build their confidence and live happier, healthier lives.
We also provide lunch on each of the three Saturdays, along
with snacks and drinks, so there is nothing you need to bring.
As the course builds across the three sessions, we ask everyone who registers to commit to attending all three dates.
