ROBERT GRACE TRUST EMERGENCY FUND

Robert Grace was an architect and one of our patients. The Trust was founded after he died to provide emergency funds for Bloomsbury patients as well as helping to support projects in his home country of South Africa.

The Robert Grace Trust Emergency Fund has been running for five years and helps Bloomsbury patients in emergencies. It has paid for repairs, new locks, baby milk, groceries, a cooker, a fridge, beds & mattresses, school uniform, holidays for disabled children, subsidies for travel and child care costs so that young mothers can attend the newly diagnosed course.

We are dependent on donations to keep the RGT Emergency Fund afloat and are very grateful to clinicians, staff, patients and private donors who have contributed so far.

The Robert Grace Trust also supports:

  • Nkosi’s Haven in Johannesburg which keep mothers with HIV/AIDS and their children together. Nkosi’s Haven and the Farm are the home to 100 mothers and 183 children where they live, attend nursery school and work, in a safe family environment.
  • St Paul’s Children’s Home south of Nairobi now with 65 children. It is largely self supporting with its Poultry and Greenhouse projects and provides RGT with artwork and jewellery for RGT events.
  • Community Action trains local teams in Alexandra to care holistically for people with HIV in hospital and at home encouraging family awareness and education in their communities as a way of promoting healthy living and challenging stigma.
