Hep C Re-infection Programme

October 18, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:15 pm

With Dr Laura Waters, Dr Indrajit Ghosh, Dr Herman Van Der Welt & Chris Sandford

Learn how to protect yourself from Hepatitis C or re-infection. An evening workshop for people at high risk, already on medication, about to start medication or post treatment. The evening will cover medical aspects and treatment, how Hep C is transmitted, the dangers of re-infection, how you can protect yourself, all  the support available

  • There are around 250,000 people in the UK with  Hepatitis C. It is 10 times more contagious than HIV.
  • Mortimer Market has new medication available which cures 96% of patients in 8 – 12 weeks.
  • However …. the medication does not provide immunity so you can get re-infected.

Up to 25% of patients get re-infected within 2 years. So far, we have only one patient (0.5%) with a confirmed re-infection – thanks to this programme

The new medication costs £30,000 for a course of treatment. Therefore NHS England will only pay for one course of treatment … so learn how to protect youself!

  1. “I just wanted to say a big thank you for last night’s seminar. It was a very enjoyable and very enlightening experience which was surprising considering it was such a serious topic we were discussing. The thing I found most liberating was being in a non-judgemental space where I could be totally honest about my feelings. So thank you again!”
  2. “I’m very grateful for the care, passion and professionalism that is so palpably present. Thank you all. ”
